About mp&mbs
mp&mbs is a project-based programme geared to experienced film industry professionals wishing to develop smart, engaging and innovative multi-platform marketing and distribution strategies for projects.

mp&mbs is designed to embrace the opportunities that digital media and cross-platform strategies offer to optimise the visibility and exploitation of projects across markets, with an emphasis on how to appeal and engage audiences and brands and maximise a project’s commercial value.

mp&mbs is an initiative of the Media Business School, designed for the Zagreb Film Festival, which will be delivered by leading European professionals experts and will provide participants with detailed insight into audiences and consumer behaviour, marketing and distribution trends and strategies, and new business models.

mp&mbs Structure
Delivered in the context of the Zagreb Film Festival, mp&mbs is a two day course, composed of plenary sessions, which are open to the festival public, and tutorial sessions, led by the attending experts, for those projects selected to participate.

mp&mbs Course Content

New distribution – multi-platform release strategies; developing marketing and distribution plans (remodelling efficiency, community based strategies); understanding marketing principles and social media; distribution; audiences and user behaviour; new business models and new markets, and transmedia storytelling, will all be part of the course content.

Tutorials & Consultation

Each participant will be assigned a tutor to provide consultation and guidance throughout the two day course. During the tutorials experts will support participants to devise a multi-platform marketing and distribution strategy, as well as identify the transmedia potential in their project.
 



The Media Business School (MBS) is a non-profit organization for education, research and development of the audiovisual sector, geared to ongoing improvement of skills and knowhow in an increasingly changing industry, improving the quality and value of projects, and their competiveness in the in the global market. The MBS offers a full range of training and consultation programmess conducted by its expert team – from a specialized master programme to intensive training sessions for experienced professionals. Over 5,000 professionals have participated in MBS programmes over the past two decades and various programs have been implemented in some 20 countries.

Nadine Luque’s - Activities Director Media Business School
Nadine Luque’s 20 year career in the film business covers international sales; feature film development; training (Media Business School from 1992–1995) and as co-founder and managing director of Arista Story Editor Workshops (1995–1997); and production, as head of development and production at Andres Vicente Gomez’s Lolafilms UK, the English language production division of Spain’s leading independent production company. As Vice President of Development and Production she oversaw development, finance and production of a slate of films including John Malkovich’s critically acclaimed The Dancer Upstairs; Susan Seidelman’s Gaudi Afternoon, Manolo Gomez Pereira’s The Three Tenors; Fernando Trueba’s Shanghai Spell and Rain, directed by Katherine Lindberg. Between 2002 and 2010 Nadine produced and co-produced Gabrielle Muccino’s Ricordati di Me, François Girard’s Silk; orchestrated the publication of Sudoku in Italy with Fandango Libri and created VOD channel Zini, for the distribution of independent films. At present, Nadine is Activities Director of the Media Business School, and consults for VoD platform Universcine. Nadine has served as a member of the jury of the Berlin based Nipkow Programme since 1995 and is a member of the European Film Academy.







Yareri Aguilar - Course Co-Ordinator Media Business School
Yareri Aguilar is Course Coordinator, she graduated in 2003 in Communications Science at Universidad Tecnológica de México. She started her professional career in 2003 working as production editor for specialised programs at TV Azteca (Latin American Broadcaster), in 2004 she was hired as an Account Manager to work with SELF (PR Agency in Mexico) whose main client was Warner Home Video Mexico and Morelia Film Festival. In 2007 she globalised her career through Spain. In November she started working for the Media Business School team.





Lecturers

Ian Ginn - Hubbub Media, Netherlands
Ian Ginn is a transmedia story architect and experience designer. He writes and creatively leads his own pervasive entertainment projects, also providing strategy and creative services to brands, companies and organisations. A committed educator, Ian leads professional labs and workshops throughout Europe, and is a guest lecturer at the Master programme Leadership in the Creative Industries at Darmstadt University, and at EUCROMA the international transmedia programme at the Danish National Film School. He is a frequent speaker in conferences and think-tanks worldwide, including: MIP Cube, Cannes; London Book Fair; EBU TV Summit, Lucerne; TEDxTransmedia, Geneva & Rome; Storyworld, Los Angeles & San Francisco; Colombia 3.0, Bogota; and many others. Ian Ginn is on the advisory board of the Screen New South Wales Interactive Media Fund, and a jury member for the 2013 Digital Emmys.





Michael Gubbins - Sampo Media, UK
Michael Gubbins is an experienced journalist, analyst and consultant, working in the film, entertainment and media industries, with a particular expertise in on-demand and digital change. He is the founder of SampoMedia, chairs the Film Agency for Wales, and is the former editor of Screen International and Music Week. Gubbins is a well-known chair, keynote speaker and organiser of conferences around Europe, including prestigious events for Europa Cinemas, European Audiovisual Observatory, Europa Distribution, Inside Pictures, the European Think Tank, the Media Business School, European Parliament events, Power to the Pixel, CineRegio, the Danish Film Institute, the BFI and festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Edinburgh, London and Gothenburg. Some of the ideas about cross-media and cross-cultural change are now becoming part of the strategy at the Film Agency for Wales. His work in film and related industries has given him a rare overview of the media value chain, and he has hands-on experience of both traditional industry processes and digital innovation.





Marco Odasso - 709 Media Room, Spain
Marco Odasso graduated in Journalism at the London School of Journalism; he worked as a freelance writer for a great number of newspapers and magazines (Le Nouvelle Economiste - France, Il Giornale – Italy). He specialized as reporter on filmmaking, focusing on the technical aspects of the business. He became Senior Editor for the Spanish leading trade publication Producción Profesional, before becoming Marketing and Communications Manager for Spain and Portugal at Avid Technology in 2003. Two years later, he was appointed as European Market Manager for the Educational Market. In 2007, he left Avid to become a Social Media Strategist, working on different campaigns for a great number of markets, including film viral campaign, such as Tropa de Elite. He designed Social Media strategies for brands such as AxiCom, ADT, Symantec Spain, Estudio Pelonio, etc. In 2011 he became Senior PR and Communications Expert at Canal Plus Spain, company that has a relevant Social Media activity, driven by star products such as TV shows like Game of Thrones, Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire. Marco Odasso is also directing the Master in Community Manager and Communications 2.0 at Escuela CES, in Madrid.





Lisbet Stolberg - Scanbox Entertainment, Denmark
Lisbet Stolberg started her professional career working as a Digital Consultant at Omnicom Media Group in Denmark. She was advising large Danish companies on their online media strategy. Since 2002 she has worked with film distribution. She is currently Nordic Marketing Manager at Scanbox Entertainment. Her responsibilities include international acquisition, development of local film projects and distribution strategy for our films in the four Nordic Countries. She is a member of the company’s Management Group.
