Believing that a film festival should provide practical work and education and engage in the development of cinematography, starting from the first steps, the Zagreb Film Festival launched its new program last year – Youth Industry! Now with a new name – shorter but more comprehensive at the same time – the same program will once again be part of the ZFF.

The practical work in film production is what the scriptwriters' workshops My First Film and Palunko are focused on. Owing to the traditional cooperation between the Croatian Film Association and ZFF, Palunko workshop takes place every year, resulting in one short film which is then screened in Checkers program at the subsequent edition of the festival.

My First Script workshop, organized in cooperation with the Croatian Film Directors Guild, will have its second edition this year. It will include six feature-film scriptwriting projects that will be developed under the mentorship of this year's script doctors, the awarded scriptwriters and directors Srđan Koljević and Pjer Žalica.

As regards practical education, the youngest film lovers must not be neglected either. The Bib for Kids film workshop, organized as part of the Bib for Kids children's program, enables schoolchildren to acquire some basics of filmmaking under the mentorship of Jure Troje.

As part of our educational program, a masterclass on the cooperation of directors and scriptwriters will take place this year. It will be conducted by Srdan Golubović and Srđan Koljević, the directors/scriptwriters whose cooperation resulted in the acclaimed films Circles (2013) and The Trap (2007).

And finally, in cooperation with the renowned Spanish Media Business School, this year's ZFF organizes lectures open for public and consultation sessions for the projects selected after a public competition. The lectures and sessions will be carried out by four top-quality Media Business School lecturers as part of the Multi-Platform & Marketing Business School. During the two-day program, the lecturers and organizers will talk about numerous transmedia-, marketing- and distribution-related subjects.
